Privacy Policy
PreMeal Connect ("PreMeal Connect", "we", "us") is a mobile app for restaurant teams. It is operated by Steven Eccles, doing business as PreMeal Connect, 50 Meadow Lane, Bloomfield, NJ 07003, United States. This policy explains what information the app and this website collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed, so it is in plain language.
1. Who uses the app
PreMeal Connect is used by restaurants ("your restaurant") and the people who work there. A restaurant owner creates the restaurant in the app and holds the subscription. Managers create staff accounts, build menus, schedules and quizzes, and send announcements. Employees use the app to learn the menu, see their schedule, play, and stay in touch with the team. Each restaurant is a separate, private space; people at one restaurant cannot see another restaurant's data.
Your restaurant decides who gets an account and what role they have. When your manager creates your account, your restaurant is providing your information to us so that we can run the app for them.
2. What we collect
Information your restaurant or you provide
- Account details: your name, username, job title(s) and role, your work email address, and optionally your phone number, profile photo, tagline, badge and preferred language. Your password is stored only as a salted hash; we cannot read it.
- Restaurant details (owners): the restaurant's name, address, city, state, phone number, logo and location, used to set up the restaurant, show the local weather and label the team's space.
- Content you create in the app: menu items, recipes, cocktails, photos, announcements, events, specials, guides, checklists, notes, messages to other team members, reactions, tip and checkout entries, shift requests and schedule changes.
- Learning and play data: quiz and exam answers and scores, game scores, leaderboard standings, rewards earned and redeemed.
- Manager notes: managers can write private notes about an employee. These are visible only to your restaurant's managers and owner.
Information collected automatically
- Device and push tokens: if you allow notifications, a push token for your device so we can deliver them.
- Diagnostics: if the app crashes or hits an error, a crash report with the app version, device model, operating system version and the technical details of the error. We configure our crash reporting so that it does not include your name, email or other personal details.
- Subscription status: whether your restaurant's plan is active, which plan it is, and the trial or renewal dates. We never see your card or bank details; Apple and Google handle payment.
- Basic activity: timestamps of when records are created or updated, which the app needs to work (for example, when a schedule was last changed).
What we do not collect
- We do not use your device's GPS or precise location. Weather is based on your restaurant's address, not your phone.
- We do not read your contacts, calendar, microphone or files. Camera and photo-library access is used only when you choose to take or pick a photo.
- We do not run advertising, ad trackers or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell personal information.
3. How we use it
- To run the app for your restaurant: show menus and schedules, deliver messages and announcements, score quizzes and games, track tips and rewards.
- To send push notifications your restaurant's managers address to you (for example a schedule change or a new announcement), and the app's own notifications such as trial reminders.
- To keep the app working and secure: fix crashes, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms and keep accounts separate by restaurant.
- To manage subscriptions and trials for your restaurant.
- To respond when you contact support.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or any purpose unrelated to running PreMeal Connect.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that make the app work, and only as needed for their service:
| Provider | What they do for us | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosts our database, file storage and server functions (United States, us-east-1) | All app data described above |
| Apple and Google | App distribution, in-app subscriptions and push notification delivery | Purchase and subscription records (on their side), push notification payloads |
| Expo (EAS) | Routes push notifications to Apple and Google | Push tokens and notification content |
| RevenueCat | Keeps subscription status in sync between the stores and the app | An anonymous app user ID, store receipts and subscription status |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting | Crash reports without personal details |
| WeatherAPI.com | Local weather on the Welcome screen | Your restaurant's city or coordinates (never your device's location) |
| Cloudflare | Hosts this website and our support email forwarding | Standard web server logs; email sent to [email protected] |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of users or the public, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred. We do not sell or rent personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. What your restaurant can see
Because the app is a tool your restaurant uses to run its team, your restaurant's owner and managers can see the information about you that the app holds: your profile, schedule, shift requests, tip and checkout entries, quiz and exam results, game scores, rewards, the messages you send within the restaurant's channels, and the notes managers write about you. Co-workers can see your name, photo, job title, schedule and leaderboard standing, and messages you send them. Your restaurant is responsible for using this information in line with its own employment policies and the law where you work.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account information and content are kept while your account exists.
- Messages, message attachments and other stale content are automatically removed after 90 days by a daily clean-up.
- When you delete your account (section 7), your personal information is removed within 30 days, except where we must keep a record to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute.
- Crash reports are kept by our crash-reporting provider for 90 days.
- Backups of our database are kept for a limited period and overwritten on a rolling basis.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: My Hub → Profile → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm, and the deletion is immediate. If you are the owner of a restaurant, you first hand the restaurant to a manager (the app walks you through it) so that your team is not locked out; the subscription does not transfer, so the new owner starts their own and you cancel yours in your store settings.
Deleting your account removes your profile, login, messages, scores, tip entries and other personal records. Content you created for the restaurant as part of your job, such as a menu item or a recipe, stays with the restaurant but is no longer linked to your name. If you prefer, email [email protected] from the email address on your account with the subject "Delete my account" and we will do it for you and confirm within 7 days.
An owner can also ask us to delete the entire restaurant and everything in it by emailing us from the owner account.
8. Your choices and rights
- Profile: you can edit your name, photo, tagline, language and phone number in the app at any time.
- Notifications: turn push notifications on or off in your phone's settings, and choose which kinds you receive in the app's notification settings.
- Camera and photos: allow or revoke access in your phone's settings; the app works without them.
- Access, correction and portability: email us and we will provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or correct it. Where the information was provided by your restaurant, we may ask you to confirm the request with your manager.
- Deletion: see section 7.
If you live in a state or country with privacy laws that give you specific rights (for example California, Colorado, Virginia, the EU or the UK), you can exercise them by emailing us. We will not treat you differently for doing so. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
9. Security
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Each restaurant's data is isolated by server-side rules, so the app can only read and write records that belong to the signed-in person's restaurant and role. Administrative access to our systems is limited to the people who operate PreMeal Connect. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will notify your restaurant and, where the law requires it, you.
10. Children
PreMeal Connect is a workplace tool for restaurant staff and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. Restaurants must not create accounts for employees under 16. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
11. Where data is stored
Our servers are in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and let your restaurant know through the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
